'Ecstatic' Celine Dion pregnant with IVF twins at 42

Singer Celine Dion is reportedly pregnant with twins after her sixth attempt at in-vitro fertilisation.

The 42-year-old Canadian star's dream of expanding her family has come true, her spokesman has told U.S. media.

Dion, who is married to her manager Rene Angelil, 68, is already mother to nine-year-old Rene-Carles.

And after undergoing her sixth in-vitro fertilisation attempt and turning to acupuncture to improve her chances of conceiving, her spokesman Kim Jakwerth confirmed the happy news.

Dion is said to be 14 weeks pregnant and will find out the babies' genders next month.

'We're ecstatic,' her husband and manager Rene Angelil told the website.

'Celine is just hoping for a healthy pregnancy.

'She was hoping for one baby and the news that we are having two is a double blessing.'

It was reported Celine was pregnant last August, but her spokeperson confirmed in November 2009 that the pregnancy had failed.

The My Heart Will Go On singer has never made a secret of her desire to extend her family, and was always planning to fall pregnant following her run of shows in Las Vegas last year.

But Rene's battle with cancer cast doubt over whether the couple would have more children of their own.

She said: 'We'll give it a try after my tour. Hopefully we will be parents again. If not, that's fine. We have our miracle baby.'

Celine fell pregnant with Rene-Charles after having IVF treatment following six years of attempting to conceive.

When asked last December about her plans to fall pregnant for a second time, she confirmed she and her husband had 'a frozen embryo' waiting

Last year, Rene said: 'We are living the reality of the majority of couples who have to use [IVF]. The process can be long and arduous.

'But we are full of confidence. Céline is more determined than ever.'

In February, Celine told talk show host Oprah Winfrey that she and Rene had started on their fifth pregnancy attempt, and were determined not to give up.

She said: 'It’s life. You know? A lot of people go through this, but it’s not being told because it’s not in newspaper.

'But with us, as you know, it’s like, sometimes news are like mercury.'

Celine also said she didn't want to announce her miscarriage straight away, explaining: 'They said that I was pregnant, and a couple of days after, we were not pregnant again.

'We didn’t want to feel like we were playing yo-yo - "I’m pregnant. I’m not pregnant. I’m pregnant. I’m not pregnant." So we didn’t want to do this thing. But we did have a miscarriage.'

She added: 'I will be the happiest one to tell you when I’m pregnant. And if not, I’m the luckiest artist, especially wife and mother of a wonderful son. So I’m glad.'

Celine Dion determined to try IVF again

Celine Dion is "determined" to continue with in-vitro fertilization (IVF) treatment after learning she is not pregnant after all.The Canadian superstar, 41, confirmed she was expecting her second child with husband Rene Angelil in August (09) amid reports she was carrying an embryo that had been frozen in liquid nitrogen for the past eight years.

The couple had embryos frozen for in-vitro fertilization while trying to conceive her first child, Rene-Charles, now eight.Dion had embryos implanted in her womb in August (09) and again in October (09), but both attempts proved to be unsuccessful.

Reports Dion was no longer pregnant broke on Wednesday (11Nov09), but the sad news has not put the My Heart Will Go On singer off trying for another baby. Angelil, 67, tells Canadian newspaper Journal de Montreal, "Dr. Zev Rosenwaks believed that the procedure/pregnancy took, but that wasn't the case. We found out some days later. We were shocked...

"We are living the reality of the majority of couples who have to use (IVF). The process can be long and arduous. But today, we are full of confidence. Celine is more determined than ever... You know Celine. She doesn't let go."Angelil admits his famous wife has been through so much in her bid to fall pregnant again, but the couple is not deterred and will travel to New York again to undergo further IVF treatment.

He adds, "I admire all the women who go through such a tough process. Since April, she has undergone numerous examinations, multiple hormone injections and blood tests. Celine and I didn't get discouraged... we put our faith in life and in the stars."

The Second Celine Dion Miracle

Canadian pop diva Celine Dion is pregnant with her second child. Just like their first child, the second child has also been conceived through in vitro fertilization
(IVF) at a New York clinic.

This will be the second child for the 41-year-old megastar with her 67-year-old husband-cum-manager Rene Angelil. The couple, who married in 1994, had their first child Rene-Charles nine years ago.

The pregnancy was confirmed Monday after test at the same clinic. The couple had sought medical help to conceive after Angelil was diagnosed with cancer in 1999. Since he was to be treated with radiation and chemotherapy which affect fertility, Angelil had frozen his sperm before undergoing the treatment.

In 2001, Dion had an intracytoplasmic sperm injection, in which a single sperm is injected into the egg. The couple planned to have two kids at the time. But one of the two fertilized eggs was frozen five days after conception and stored at the New York clinic at that time.

It is this frozen fertilized egg which will be the second offspring for the pop diva.

So rather than being twins, the couple's two children will now be siblings.

"Celine is very, very happy,'' Murielle Blondeau, a spokeswoman for Dion, was quoted as saying Tuesday. "Celine and Rene are full of joy. It's been a big dream for Celine to have a second child.

Local agency reports said the sex of the child is not known.

The best-selling female artist of all time, Celine Dion has sold more than 200 million albums worldwide so far.

The youngest of the 14 kids born into a poverty-stricken musical family in Quebec, Dion was guided to greatness by Angelil who sold his house to finance the young girl's first album in 1981.

The French album went on to become number one in Quebec province, paving the way for her stardom.

Dion and Angelil became lovers but kept the affair under wraps, fearing that it will be frowned upon because he was 26 years older than her. Now, their second Miracle:)
